Home Visits and Hospitals

  • Home visits may be arranged by calling the surgery. Please call early so that doctors can plan their rounds.
  • Home visit after hours can be arranged by calling our deputising service.
  • The doctors also visit Longueville Hospital and local Nursing Homes and Retirement Villages.

Phone Calls

Doctors are often in consultation when a patient rings. Emergency phone calls will be answered immediately by the doctor. Otherwise doctors will return patient's calls as soon as feasible.

Pathology, Radiology and Results

  • Specimens are collected in our surgery. Urgent results are available in 4-6 hours.
  • Patients requiring X-rays are referred to one of the local radiologists and results are available immediately.
  • Uncomplicated results will be given by doctors over the phone, e.g. Papsmears, Pregnancy tests and Urine tests.
  • Results of complex blood tests and X-rays should be discussed at the follow-up consultation.

Repeat Prescriptions and Referrals

  • It is not possible to repeat prescriptions unless the patient has been seen in the previous six months. This ensures good standards of practice. Requests should be made at least one day in advance.
  • It is generally necessary to see your doctor for an appropriate referral so adequate information may be given to the specialist.

Recalls and Reminders

This practice uses a 'Recall and Reminder' system to provide preventative care for our patients.

The reminder system may include checks to help in the prevention, early detection of certain conditions and immunisation follow-up. In some cases, the reminders can also be sent from other places, eg. the Pap Smear Register.

Please discuss any concerns with your doctor.

Vaccinations

Vaccinations for children and for overseas travel are available every day.

For travel vaccinations please make an appointment with your doctor at least a month prior to your departure to any tropical or third world country.
